Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen is calling on President Biden to pardon him like he pardoned his son Hunter before President-elect Donald Trump could take office.

Cohen discussed his efforts to seek a pardon from the Biden administration on MSNBC's “The Weekend” Saturday morning. He claimed that not granting him a presidential pardon would allow him to continue to be “in danger” of legal action against Trump.

Cohen argued that Biden had an obligation to protect him and other Trump critics like he protected his son Hunter.

“Yes, I filed for a presidential pardon because I believe Joe Biden has the same responsibility to me that he had to his own son,” Cohen said. “And I would expect the same exact forgiveness that he gave to his son to be given to me and anyone else on that enemies list, whether they like it or not, because I assure you , solitary confinement, where I spent 51 days, sucks.

Biden would make a mistake by granting preemptive pardons to Trump's enemies: Washington Post column

MSNBC host Symone Sanders agreed with Cohen's concern about being on Trump's 'enemies list,' but disagreed with invoking Hunter Biden for his case .

“I mean, Hunter Biden is the last surviving son of the president,” Sanders said.

“By the way, I’m also someone’s son,” Cohen replied.

“Okay. You're someone's son,” Sanders said. “But I mean, to be very clear, you're not the president's son. And he pardoned Hunter mainly because he's his son, I think.”

Cohen stressed the importance of taking Trump seriously as a threat.

“You have to take Donald Trump at his word when he turns around,” Cohen said. “So far, everything he said he intended to do, he actually intended to do. And he did it one by one. Now, not everything will happen. -may not be the first day, as he said, but ultimately he “I will have over four years with a whole group of people who will now take government positions in order to help him achieve his goals. “

Cohen spent three years in prison for federal crimes of tax evasion, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress while working for Trump. He has since become a vocal critic of the president-elect and testified against Trump in the Alvin Bragg criminal case in New York earlier this year.

Cohen also said in September that he planned to leave the country if Trump was re-elected.

“I'm already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name. I don't know how that's going to work as far as my wife and kids are concerned. I certainly don't want them to move to where I live. I feel like to go,” Cohen said.

Biden was attacked from both sides for pardoning his son Hunter in December, although he insisted he would not do so. In the weeks before his term ended, Biden also said he was still considering preemptive pardons for some of Trump's political enemies, like former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
