Actress Cynthia Erivo reveals that she really wants to play “Storm” aka Ororo Munroe, to give her her full place in the MCU.

While she is a hit as Elphaba in the hit musical Wicked, Cynthia Erivo has the wind in its sails. On her way to the Oscars (she will certainly be nominated and one of the favorites against Demi Moore and Nicole Kidman), the actress wants to move on to the next phase of her Hollywood career: join the Marvel saga!

The 38-year-old actress confided on a red carpet in New York this week that she wanted to play Tornarde, the X-Men weather girl who manipulates the weather as she pleases.

“I really want to play Storm” she assures before justifying:

“I know it seems frivolous, superficial. But I think we haven't yet discovered how big she is and all this inner turmoil that she has inside of her. So I think there is a world in which we could do something strong with all that and with this character”.

Marvel comics

It is true that the incarnation of Halle Berry didn't really go beyond the borders of the Xavier School. However, in the Marvel comics, she was raised rough on the streets of Cairo, before becoming a goddess worshiped in Africa. She is even sometimes the Queen of Wakanda as Black Panther's wife. Despite being one of Marvel's most powerful mutants, Ororo suffers from violent claustrophobia, inherited from a childhood trauma: she became trapped under rubble with the bodies of her dying parents.

We note that mutants have slowly but surely been integrated into the MCU for several months. Wolverine has just entered the scene. And the X-Men dshould follow.
