“A lot of random people I pass by still yell “pivot” at me today!”

Since 1999, no one carries a sofa up stairs in the same way. The “Pivot” episode of Friends is etched in the annals of television and David Schwimmerat the center of the sequence in question, tells today in the show Good Morning America that fans continue to talk to him about the scene, 25 years later.

No… It's never drunk”says former Ross Geller of Friendsgiving a little smile to the camera that says it all. “A lot of random people I pass by still yell “pivot” at me today!”

Obviously, this is a reference to this memorable episode of season 5 (“The one who envied his friends”) in which his character tries to lift a new sofa up the narrow staircase of his New York building with the help from his friends Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and Chandler (Matthew Perry).

“Let’s say it’s surprising to hear “pivot” like that… But it’s also a reminder that the series continues to live and that’s so much the better in the end.”

And David Schwimmer assures that he enjoys talking about Friendsagain and again, despite the time that passes, because “It’s always a gift in fact. When I meet people in the street from another country who tell me that they learned English by watching the series. Or a father who stops me and tells me that his sick child held up in the hospital thanks to Friends… I feel really grateful and blessed to have done this.”
