The Bouleys and the Lepics on the Moon, it's not a joke… Ridiculous or amusing?

It's been over 7 years since the series Don't do this, don't do that is over, but it seems that we still have a hard time saying goodbye to the Bouleys and the Lepics. After the episode “Will there be Christmas at Christmas?”, which focused on confinement (in 2020), here are the two families again in a new special TV film. 1h30 of crazy reunion, for a lunar adventure, literally and figuratively.

The children are grown up. Renaud has just been forced into early retirement from the Binet taps, Fabienne tries to stay young by writing naughty novels, while for their part, Denis and Valérie pass the time. To give some meaning back to their lives, the children decide to register, despite themselves, for a major competition organized by the European Space Agency. Except that the hoped-for little boost will turn into a huge galactic epic…

Yes, Bouley and Lepic will indeed go to the Moon! As Tintin before them, they will even walk on the Moon, before our incredulous eyes… The director Alexandre Castagnettimanaged to perfectly stage the joke. Despite its small budget, he has put together a nice family science fiction film, where a few tips and tricks allow us to believe thatIsabelle Gélinas, Bruno Salomone, Valérie Bonneton And William of Tonquédec really rotated in weightlessness (which is not the case).

No, it's not ridiculous and besides, the very idea that four fifty-year-old civilians would be sent into space by the ESA no longer sounds totally far-fetched, at the end of a script that would almost seem coherent (with former astronaut Jean-François Clervoy as consultant).

Yes, the Bouleys and the Lepics can go to the Moon. Why not ? But do we really want to see them go to the Moon? That is the whole question of this special TV film, which largely abandons the good old daily affairs of our two families, those which made Don't do this, don't do that a series so well anchored in our realities. The series moves further away than ever from what made it strong at the time. Even if the cast continues to make us laugh, we feel that we have reached the end of something.

No, Don't do this, don't do that should not continue on this path, putting Bouley and Lepic in increasingly grotesque situations, following in the footsteps of Tintin up to the Picaros. Maybe we'll have to stop asking them for the moon. Don't do this, don't do thatbut don't overdo it!

Don't do this, don't do that: We're going to walk on the moon, to be seen this Wednesday, December 18 on France 2. Already available for free on france.tv.
