THE MALL. MONROEVILLE MALL WAS ONCE A RETAIL HUB DURING ITS HEYDAYS, BUT CBL PROPERTIES IS PUTTING THE 187 ACRE PROPERTY ON THE MARKET. I’M VERY, VERY SAD AND IT REALLY DOES BREAK MY HEART. I GREW UP GOING TO THAT MALL, AND I WORKED AT THAT MALL FOR 20 YEARS. TINA COOLEY IS THE OWNER OF TINA COOLEY STUDIO FOR HER BUSINESS, IS SET UP INSIDE SOLA SALONS WITH OTHER INDEPENDENT SALON OWNERS. JUST OUTSIDE MALL CIRCLE DRIVE. TERESA PARKS IS ANOTHER SALON OWNER. SHE OWNS EVERGREEN SALON CO. I DEFINITELY THINK THAT A CHANGE WOULD BE GREAT, ESPECIALLY IF WE COULD GET THE RIGHT PEOPLE IN THERE AND REALLY BRING A POSITIVE CHANGE TO THE MALL. THAT’S BECAUSE A LONG RUNNING RASH OF VIOLENCE TARNISHED ITS REPUTATION DURING THE PAST TEN YEARS. THAT INCLUDES MULTIPLE SHOOTING INCIDENTS, ONE FATAL, ALSO MULTIPLE FIGHTS INVOLVING LARGE GROUPS OF TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULTS. CURRENTLY, IT IS ANCHORED BY MACY’S, DICK’S SPORTING GOODS, JCPENNEY, AND CINEMARK. HOWEVER, SCORES OF BUSINESSES HAVE DEPARTED THE MALL. TAIPEI, TOKYO’S OWNER HOPES THE MALL CAN BE REVIVED WITH NEW OWNERS. HOPEFULLY. YOU KNOW IT’S A GOOD THING FOR NEW OWNER IS GOING TO TAKE IT OVER. HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW THERE’S A NEW BUSINESS AND I DO BELIEVE THAT. AND IF THEY CAN BRING IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS, THAT WOULD BE GREAT. YOU KNOW, EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN. NOW MONROEVILLE MALL IS OWNED BY CBL PROPERTIES IN CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE. IT WAS PLACED ON THE MARKET BY JLL INVESTMENT CENTER, BUT WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED A STATEMENT FROM CBL PROPERTIES REGARDING DETAILS ON THE SALE OF THE MALL. RE
