Ryan Reynolds took six years to direct 'Deadpool & Wolverine' because he didn't want to be an 'absent' father

Ryan Reynolds weighs in on the future of the 'Deadpool' franchise.

During a recent sit-down with actor Andrew Garfield for Variety's Actors on Actors series, Reynolds explained why he thinks the “Deadpool” films resonate with audiences, sharing that it might be due to “the scarcity and to the surprise”, before adding that he does not do it. know if there will be more.

“So it's been six years since the last one, and part of the reason is that it's swallowing up my whole life,” he told Garfield when asked about his plans for more films in the franchise. “I have four children and I never want to be away [dad]. Reynolds added that he wasn't sure “what the future of 'Deadpool' will be”, but he is happy with the final product, explaining that he “made the film a complete experience” rather than use as “an advertisement for another”. “

Elsewhere in the interview, Reynolds reflected on what led him to become a producer on the film series, and then co-write the second and third installments as well. He recalls making “incredibly fulfilling” films that resonated with critics but failed to capture audiences' attention, saying he had to “figure out how to work on both sides of the coin.”
