The musical parody of Gladiator II is even better than the film!

Paul Mescal reprises his role in the Rome Arena and sings for SNL in “Gladiator: Twosical.”

Ridley Scott was “unaware!” To ride on the success of musical comedies which are a hit at the box office at the moment, with Wicked And Moana 2a song and dance version of Gladiator 2 was staged. And this is obviously the Saturday Night Live who is behind this absolutely brilliant parody, summarized in a 3 minute trailer, which flat out promises “50 additional minutes of songs” to the original peplum.

The video is very funny and opens with Kenan Thompsonmade up as Macrinus (the character of Denzel Washington), who arrives at the gates of Rome and begins to sing a hymn to the glory of the city: “There's No Place Like Rome”!

Then, Gladiator: Twosical returns Paul Mescal in the arena, for an impressive musical number. The Irish actor – who was host of the SNL this Saturday – happily put on the armor again to face other gladiators while singing, or by having a little rap battle at the Hamilton with the Emperor. “You’re going to know my name!” brails Mescal, who reveals a nice little bit of voice in passing… before flying away on his magic broom at the Wicked !

And now we really want to see Gladiator: Twosical at the cinema. Maybe on the blu-ray bonuses?
