A touch of Bridgerton in the 2024 Doctor Who Christmas special: trailer

Actress Nicola Coughlan joins Ncuti Gatwa for a fantasy adventure.

Exactly a year after making his debut as master of the TARDIS, Ncuti Gatwa will return to host Christmas Day with a special episode of Doctor Who. A British tradition which will continue with “Joy to the World”, an episode which will mark the launch of season 15 of the cult series (which will then continue in 2025).

Disney unveils a first trailer which shows that the star of Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlanwill arrive in the role of Joy, to accompany Ncuti Gatwa in his new adventure. The episode will take Joy and the Doctor to the Time Hotel, where they will encounter dinosaurs and different versions of the time traveler. “Joy opens a secret door to the Time Hotel – discovering danger, dinosaurs and the Doctor. But a deadly plan is unfolding on Earth, right during Christmas.”

Produced and written by Steven Moffat and directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai, this Christmas 2024 special from Doctor Who will be broadcast on December 25 on Disney +.
