Sylvester Stallone will make The Samaritan 2 on Prime Video

Sly's superhero film, a great success of 2022, arrives on television this evening.

In the summer of 2022, Sylvester Stallone delivered his version of the superhero film with The Samaritanstreaming on Prime Video. The pitch?

The Samaritan is a superhero who pretended to be dead 25 years earlier and became a garbage collector. But he finds himself forced to return to service after being unmasked by one of his young neighbors, played by Javon Walton (Euphoria). Able to regenerate, the Samaritan will have to take up weapons, including a mace that he forges himself, to face a new enemy, embodied by Pilou Asbaek (Game of Thrones).

The Hollywood Reporter announced a little over a year later, in October 2023, that the Amazon MGM studio has decided to produce a sequel. We take stock of The Samaritan 2, at the moment when No. 1 arrives on clear television.

Sylvester Stallone will return as the film's star and producer (via Balboa Productions): he had actually made a deal with MGM to return before the actors' strike began. Behind the scenes, the screenwriter Bragi F. Schut (Escape Game, Demeter's Last Voyage) is still there, however, since this announcement it has been a little over a year, its initial director Julius Avery (Overlord, Son of a Gun) has not been confirmed to return behind the camera. We also don't know the new actors in the casting.

Let us remember that The Samaritan enjoyed surprise success in the summer of 2022, remaining the number one feature film on Prime Video for three consecutive weeks.
