Friday Night Lights: soon a reboot of the cult series?

The showrunner of the original series, Jason Katims, is working on a new story in the world of US high school football.

It's one of the series that contributed to the explosion of TV series. At the beginning of the 21st century, Friday Night Lights finds a place alongside the Soprano and others breaking Bad. Aired for five seasons from 2006 to 2011, it chronicles life around a high school football team in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas, coached by Eric Taylor. Kyle Chanderthen ex-hero of Tomorrow in the newsfinds the role that will take off his career for good.

Also revealing Zach Gilford, Michael B.Jordan And Jurnee Smollettamong others, Friday Night Lights has become a cult series all over the world. And today, a reboot is in preparation at Universal Television.

The showrunner of the original series, Jason Katimsshould come back and write this, alongside the executive producer Brian Grazer.

It wouldn't quite be a remake, but a sort of spinoff series focusing on a new story with new characters. Basically, another series in the world of high school football, which would not be a direct sequel and therefore which would not bring back the cast Kyle ChandlerConnie Britton, Gaius Charles or Jesse Plemons.

This reboot of Friday Night Lights is only just beginning and the Universal studio is still looking for a broadcaster.
