Beatles '64 will tell the story of the English group's incredible American tour, with never-before-seen images and testimonies.

“On February 7, 1964, the Beatles arrived in New York in an atmosphere of unprecedented excitement and hysteria.” Martin Scorsese tells the story of the Beatlemania that swept America, during the English group's event tour, through an event documentary full of images and unpublished testimonies.

After the incredible mini-series Get Back by Peter Jackson, the New York filmmaker wants to tell this “pivotal moment when The Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time.”

As soon as they landed at Kennedy Airport, greeted by thousands of fans, “Beatlemania” invaded New York and the entire country. Their memorable debut performance on the variety show “The Ed Sullivan Show” captivated more than 73 million viewers, becoming the most-watched television event of its time. Beatles '64 immerses viewers in a frenetic atmosphere while revealing a much more intimate behind-the-scenes story highlighting the genuine camaraderie of John, Paul, George and Ringo in the face of phenomenal stardom.”

Footage shot by documentary pioneers Albert and David Maysles has been beautifully restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand. Live performances from the Beatles' first American concert (at the Washington Coliseum) and their appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show” were “demixed” by WingNut Films and remixed by Giles Martin. New interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as well as fans whose lives were transformed by the legendary group shed light on this incredible cultural phenomenon whose effects are still felt sixty years later.

Directed by David Tedeschi and produced by Martin Scorsese, Beatles '64 will be released on Disney+ on November 29, 2024. Watch the trailer below:
