Kevin Feige maintains his support for the Blade worn by Mahershala Ali.
It is not clear why the new film Blade from Marvel can't get it done. Why are the directors leaving the project one after the other (the Frenchman Yann Demange is the latest). To the point that Marvel Studios completely removed the feature film from its official release schedule.
So when Wesley Snipes reappeared in Deadpool & Wolverine in the shoes of the super-vampire – publicly supported by Ryan Reynolds – we all said to ourselves that the Blade embodied by Mahershala Ali would remain a dream never realized.
But there is still hope. The head of the Marvel Cinematic Universe today affirms his support for the project and confirms Mahershala Ali in the title role.
“We are committed to Blade” launched Kevin Feige (via IGN) at the D23 Brazil event this weekend. “We love the character. We love the way Mahershala interprets it.” He then explains that procrastination within production in no way determines the fate of a film:
“Rest assured: every time we change direction with a project, or are still determining how it will fit into our schedule, we let the general public know. So yes, you are all aware of what's happening, but I can tell you that the character will definitely make his way into the MCU.”
Marvel initially announced its film Blade with Ali in July 2019, but the development of the project encountered many obstacles. After several postponements, a date was set for November 2025. It will not be held. Regardless of what Feige says, the film is, for the moment, still stuck in pre-production.
