The prehistoric saga had seriously declined in quality in recent years. But Disney still believes in the franchise.
In 2016, Ice Age 5: the laws of the universe ended his career with $400 million in worldwide box office revenue. A completely honest score on paper, but yet half lower than the previous opuses! Falling revenues and increasingly gloomy opinions on the great prehistoric animated saga signed by the less and less inspired Blue Sky studio.
But ten years later, Disney decided to open a new era. Because the license still weighs more than 3 billion dollars at the box office. SO Ice Age 6 is officially in the pipeline. The film is currently in production. And the sequel will bring back Manny, Sid, Diego and the rest of the pack. In a video announcing Ice Age 6Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary and Simon Pegg confirm their return to the original vocal cast (Gérard Lanvin, Élie Semoun and Vincent Cassel provide the VF).

It should be noted that the Blue Sky studio no longer exists. Disney regained control after the acquisition of Fox and chose to dissolve it in 2021. It was therefore 20th Century Animation which found itself at the helm of the disappointing spin-off Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wildreleased directly on Disney + in 2022. An uninteresting film and massacred by critics (19% on Rotten Tomatoes).
20th Century Animation, which will also take care of Ice Age 6 for Disney, will have to do better. No cinema dates yet.
