Pennsylvania’s projected US Senate winner Dave McCormick set to speak in Pittsburgh
Republican Dave McCormick, the projected winner of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate Race, will hold a news conference at the Heinz Hall Garden Plaza in downtown Pittsburgh on Friday. On Thursday, the Associated Press projected McCormick as the U.S. Senate winner over incumbent Democrat Sen. Bob Casey.Prior to the projection, Dave McCormick’s campaign claimed McCormick would be the next senator for the Keystone State. “McCormick is up 30,679 votes with more to come, as ruby red Cambria County is still outstanding. While votes continue to be counted, any way you slice it, Dave McCormick will be the next United States Senator from Pennsylvania,” Elizabeth Gregory, McCormick’s communications director, said. However, Casey has not conceded. The senator’s team said the race cannot be called with thousands of votes still being tabulated:”As the Pennsylvania Secretary of State said this afternoon, there are tens of thousands of ballots across the Commonwealth still to count, which includes provisional ballots, military and overseas ballots, and mail ballots. This race is within half a point and cannot be called while the votes of thousands of Pennsylvanians are still being counted. We will make sure every Pennsylvanian’s voice is heard.”The secretary of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania has until 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 to determine whether the close margin of the official vote count will trigger a required automatic recount. You can watch Dave McCormick’s speech in the video player above when it becomes available.
