A crash at a car wash in Pittsburgh caused a man to be pinned underneath his vehicle.The man is in critical condition with serious injuries to his leg and torso, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.Authorities were called to the Mr. Magic car wash parking lot on Washington Boulevard Thursday just before 2 p.m.According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, a man was vacuuming his car when another vehicle slammed into his, causing him to be pinned underneath. The man was extricated and was alert when taken to the hospital, according to Public Information Officer Cara Cruz.Witness Paul Lee said he saw the driver who caused the crash begin to pull out of the parking lot at a high speed before abruptly changing course.“He hit the rock, and then he was headed out towards the street, and he told me, he said he didn’t want to go out on the street. He turned right, and he hit the cars right there. Then he hit another car, and then another guy was trapped under the car. His whole body was trapped under the car. It was sad,” Lee said.Authorities say, in total, four vehicles were involved in the crash.No one was killed. However, a dog in one of the cars was thrown from the vehicle it was in when the crash happened. Owner Al La Place said his dog Ellis ran down the street but was not hit by a car as originally reported.The dog was taken to a vet, but did not survive its injuries from the crash scene.Further information on what may have led to the crash has not been released. “The collision investigation unit will look into, you know, exactly what happened here, but it does sound like, I can’t speak to the person’s speed, but it sounds like that person may have accidentally hit the gas instead of a brake,” Cruz said.This story was updated at 7 p.m. to reflect new information from the owner of the dog killed in the crash.Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
