Gilles Lellouche's film remains at the top of the French box office, while 4 Zeros and Transformers: The Beginning have had complicated starts.
The hearts of the French are racing for Love phew ! After an excellent start with 1 million admissions for its first week at the cinema, the new film by Gilles Lellouche did even better in the second week! Rarely, attendance increased with 1.17 million curious people coming to discover the enormous romantic epic in theaters.
Love phew thus tops the French box office with almost 2.2 million admissions. An impressive score after two weeks, very close to that of Great Bath in 2018 (2.5 million after two weeks). The feel good aquatic comedy ended with more than 4 million admissions. A total that Love phew can today also consider!
While waiting to see how its attendance will evolve, Love phew keeps in respect Mr Aznavour. The big biopic embodied by Tahar Rahim opens in second position and totals just over 600,000 admissions for its first week. It's better than starting Dalida (300,000 in 2015) or Gainsbourg (500,000 in 2010) but significantly worse than The Kid (1.5 million in 2007).
In the rest of the ranking, we can note the timid start of 4 Zeros. Not helped by the competition, the new football comedy from Fabien Onteniente is satisfied with 200,000 admissions in 400 rooms. This is half as much as the start of 3 Zeros in 2001 (500,000 entries).
Finally, Transformers: The Beginning starts off badly. Not even 200,000 spectators for the animated film from the enormous robotics franchise. This Cybertron prequel could well attract less than 1 million admissions here, which never happened for the previous seven films.
