Woodland Hills School District Board of Directors approved censure of board member Darnika Reed during a special legislative meeting Tuesday. In a statement from the school district, Reed had “made a series of social media posts in which she shared internal district email correspondence from various members of the district staff and other board members without prior consent,” using her district provided email to access and share information. The board said in the statement Reed’s actions violated Board Policy 815, which establishes guidelines on acceptable use of the district’s networks and technology. With this, the board said Reed will no longer have access to the district’s network or technology, including email. She will, according to the statement, still have access to “PowerSchool and District robocalls.” The censure also states Reed will be removed from all Board committees and requested her resignation from the board. “The board made a statement tonight that they will not condone any breach of confidential information by any sole board member,” Superintendent Dr. Daniel Castagna said in the statement.
