Is the creator of Peaky Blinders too busy filming the spin-off film of the series?

In March 2023, we learned that Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) and Justin Britt-Gibson (Into the Badlands) dropped the movie Star Wars that they had been writing, since the fall, for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Miss Marvel). They were immediately replaced by Steven Knight. The creator of Peaky Blinders works equally well for cinema (Shadow Promises, Allies) only for television (Dirty Pretty Things, Rogue Heroes), and his arrival on this project seemed to confirm his good progress. But a year and a half later, and while the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey had been confirmed, he in turn left the ship.

Varietywhich reveals the information, does not justify this departure. Maybe he's too absorbed in making the film Peaky Blindersfor Netflix? It has been filming in the United Kingdom since the beginning of the month, and although he is not the director, he remains very involved.

If he no longer has a screenwriter, Star Wars: New Jedi Order will it be able to be released as planned on May 20, 2026? Not sure, even if for the moment, the actress and the director remain closely attached to the project. Here's what Ridley told us about this film, when we met her at the Deauville festival:
