What if the horrible Stu Macher was still alive?

Billy Loomis was not alone. In the first part of Screamin 1996, the killer hiding behind the mask had an equally psychopathic sidekick. Stu Macher, played by Matthew Lillardwas the other killer in the film.

If Loomis is shot in the head and dies without a shadow of a doubt, a form of vagueness surrounds Stu's death. Indeed, before Billy, Sidney Prescott drops a TV on his head, which electrocutes the boy as a bonus (see video below). A fatal blow? Stu is left for dead, but his corpse is never truly seen again. So could he return to the saga and in Scream 7 ?

Matthew Lillard hasn't appeared in any of the sequels so far. But while the original screenwriter, Kevin Williamsontakes control of the franchise with Scream 7and that he will bring back Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, could Stu be his mortal enemy again?

Appearing on the Show Drew Barrymore this week (she also played in the first Scream), Lillard said he thought Stu was “definitely still alive“. And in the process, he assures that “that would be fun“to return to the saga.”I would love to. If it made sense, if it made sense for the franchise, then yes! If Kevin [Williamson] wanted it, so of course!”

During New York Comic Con, Lillard responded to GameSpot that he was not part of Scream 7. Adding: “And even if I did, I would lie straight to your face. Until the day of release, I will lie…”

Scream 7 is scheduled for February 25, 2026 in theaters.
