The director of Les Misérables teams up with Dimitri Rassam (The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo), and reunites with his producers at Srab Films.
The end of his trilogy Les Miserables will wait: Ladj Ly has just been announced at the helm of Dumas – Black Devil. Pathé, Chapter 2 (Mediawan) and Srab Films (Asacha Media Group) have just announced his hiring on this free adaptation of the comic book The First Dumas created by Salva Rubio and Ruben del Rincón and published by Glénat. Either “the extraordinary and little-known story of Thomas Alexandre Davy de La Pailleterie Dumas, a slave born in 1762 in the Caribbean who, against all expectations, became General of the French army during the Revolution and whose son is one of the most famous writers in the world: Alexandre Dumas”details the first synopsis.
The director expresses his joy at being able to tell this story on the big screen:
“I was immediately captivated by the story of Dumas, the first black General of the French army. I am impatient to adapt this story for the big screen, which will reveal a forgotten part of our History.”
Ladj Ly wants to make another film before finishing his Les Misérables trilogy
Toufik Ayadi and Christophe Barral, the founders of Srab Films, say they are delighted to team up again with the director, with whom they collaborated on Les Miserables and its “following”, Building 5 :

As for Dimitri Rassam, the president and founder of Chapter 2, he does not hide his enthusiasm at the idea of continuing to “explore the heritage of the Dumas family”he who supported The Three Musketeers – d’Artagnan And Miladyas well as The Count of Monte Cristowith Pierre Niney, who recently reached 9 million admissions in France.

We don't yet know the casting of Dumas – Black Devilbut with filming scheduled for next summer, Ladj Ly has time to assemble a talented team.
