Harry Potter series 'will explore the books in a little more depth'

The boss of Warner Bros. TV provides an update on the development of the JK Rowling spin-off series.

We haven't finished talking about it. The most anticipated series of the coming months is obviously the Harry Potter series from Warner Bros. for HBO and the Max platform. So where are we? At Mipcom in Cannes, Channing Dungey, president of Warner Bros. TV, took stock. And that's rather encouraging. She first explains that “the writing team is in place and doing what it has to do. Casting calls have opened in the UK and Ireland, so the process is progressing well.”

On the content of the series, she admits that being able to work on Harry Potter East “an incredible dream.” Above all, the serial format will be a significant plus according to her, compared to films:

“Frankly, as a big fan of the books, I find that there is an opportunity to explore the novels in a little more depth. More than what is possible in a 2 hour film. This is why we embarked on this adventure.”

In other words, to fans who found that the films had cut too large parts of the novels, this series Harry Potter is for them. In any case, it is thought of as an exhaustive adaptation of the literary saga.
