The Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway near the Polish Hill and Strip District neighborhoods reopened Friday night, after being closed for a week.A massive landslide caused debris to fall onto the busway on Oct. 11, causing Pittsburgh Regional Transit to close it.PRT said more than 100 tons of concrete barriers were being installed along the base of a 272-foot stretch in an effort to reopen the closed section of the busway.The barriers will serve as a protective barricade, preventing further debris from sliding down and disrupting operations.PRT said its geotechnical engineering consultant approved the reopening of the busway, pending an on-time delivery and swift installation of the barriers.A mobile traffic signal will be put in place to allow buses to travel one at a time through the area. Buses will use the lane farthest from the hillside, and all vehicles will be restricted to a 25 mph limit in this section.
