The Ghostbusters 5 film is well in the pipeline

Will the Ghostbusters return after defeating The Threat of Ice ? The director Gil Kenanwhich collaborates with Jason Reitman – the son of Ivan Reitman who wrote the script and directed The legacy (2021) previously – ensures that the saga Ghostbusters is not stored in the cupboard. Yes, one Ghostbusters 5 is planned.

“We'll definitely continue to discuss it, because we still want to tell these great stories of Ghostbusters on the big screen“, Kenan announces to The Direct. Then he specifies:

“The answer is yes, we are considering other films with Jason [Reitman]…We take the responsibility and joy of being keepers of the Ghostbusters flame very seriously. We'll definitely continue to talk about telling great Ghostbusters stories on the big screen. Stay tuned. We will make announcements a little later…”

Before that, the franchise will expand to the small screen in the new animated series Ghostbusters recently announced for Netflix, on which he is actively working with Jason Reitman. And Gil Kenan ensures that it will be fully integrated into the universe developed in the cinema:

“We're in the middle of developing our animated series. I'm actively involved in it, and Jason is working on it every day right now. We're really excited about the stories that are starting to be told, and how it intersects with the stories of Ghostbusters we all love.”

It will be recalled that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire somewhat missed its mark, despite the comeback of the original stars. The film did not gross more than $200 million at the worldwide box office. A very small success.
