Join Telegram ChannelA mysterious fleet of drones entered restricted airspace and invaded a US military base along the Virginia coast for 17 days late last year, disrupting the Pentagon, according to a new report.
Over several nights last December, U.S. military personnel reported witnessing a fleet of unknown unmanned aircraft violating restricted airspace over a stretch of land at Langley Air Force Base, along the coast of Virginia, the Wall Street Journal first reported.
The drones would begin arriving about 45 minutes to an hour after sunset each night, a U.S. Air Force official reportedly told Gen. Mark Kelly, who joined several other officers in charge of the nation's most advanced jet fighters , including F-22 Raptors, on December 31. a squadron roof.
Kelly described the first drone he saw measuring about 20 feet long and flying at more than 100 miles per hour, at an altitude of about 3,000 to 4,000 feet. At least a dozen drones followed, flying over the Chesapeake Bay, then heading toward Norfolk, Virginia, and crossing a gap overlooking the Navy's SEAL Team Six base and Naval Base Norfolk, the largest naval port of the world, according to the Journal.

The report says authorities cannot determine whether amateurs or adversaries – such as China or Russia – are responsible for the drone fleet. Information about the affair reached President Biden and led to two weeks of meetings at the White House in December 2023, the Journal reported. These meetings included the Department of Defense, the FBI and the Pentagon's UFO office, as well as outside experts.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House and Department of Defense for comment. The DoD referred Fox News Digital to Langley Air Force Base for more information, but they did not immediately respond to a request. Neither does the White House.
Two months before Virginia's drone fleet emerged, five mysterious drones reportedly violated restricted airspace above a government nuclear weapons testing site in Nevada.

Four of the drones were detected by the Nevada Department of Energy's national security site outside Las Vegas, while the fifth was spotted by employees, according to the Journal. The establishment has since reportedly improved its detection system, but authorities have not determined who was behind the breach.
