Terrifier 3 kills Joker 2 at the US box office

The horror film, banned for under 18s in France, has just got off to a terrifying start across the Atlantic.

He scares everyone. Already a phenomenon in France, the sociopathic clown of Terrify 3 made a killing at the US box office this weekend.

The horror film – R-Rated – took first place at the North American box office, grossing $18.3 million in 2,514 theaters. A very good first weekend for the ultra-bloody low-budget slasher (around 2 million), which is riding on its reputation as snuff movie super brutal.

Terrify 3 even managed to decide Joker 2 in small slices. With a catastrophic drop in attendance of 82% since its launch, Folie à Deux falls (already) to third place at the US box office, earning only $7.055 million in 4,102 theaters. We are heading towards a small industrial disaster for the blockbuster with a production budget of 200 million, which aimed for a billion, like the previous one, but which should be satisfied with much, much less.

So far, Joker: Folie à Deux grossed $51.6 million in the United States and $165.3 million worldwide.

Above all, -82% of tickets sold in the second week, this is a historic record: Joker 2 made the biggest second-weekend drop for a superhero film, falling more severely The Marvels (-78.1%), that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (-69.9%) or Shazam: Fury of the Gods (-69%).

The flop therefore promises to be brutal, as with the film about Donald Trump. The Apprenticewith Sebastian Stanonly entered the US box office in 11th place with $1.58 million in 1,740 theaters. The mixed reviews and the not very enthusiastic response to its Cannes presentation did not help. Another release of the week, the feature film devoted to the creation of Saturday Night Livetitled Saturday Nightpeaked at 4 million revenues (in 2,300 theaters) while this comedy about America in the 70's, directed by Jason Reitmancost 30 million dollars…

Finally, Universal and DreamWorks Animation are much more celebrating. The Wild Robot climbs to second place at the US box office, and brings in another $14 million for its third weekend in theaters. The lovely tale, praised by the press, has earned $83.73 million in the United States and $150 million worldwide to date.
