Join Telegram ChannelA suspect opened fire Saturday evening near Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville, killing at least one person and injuring several others.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) announced that the fatal shooting occurred shortly before the start of a homecoming football game around 5:10 p.m. TSU was playing Eastern Illinois University at Nissan Stadium.
“Several victims were injured following a shooting at Jefferson Street and 27th Avenue North,” police wrote on Facebook at 6:30 p.m. “The scene is secure and the victims are in area hospitals.”

In an update, police said a 24-year-old man had died and there were 10 confirmed victims.
“At this point, it has been confirmed that 10 victims were involved in these shootings, one of whom died,” MNPD Public Information Officer Brooke Reese said during a press briefing.
“Five of them were transported from the Nashville Fire Department to local hospitals,” she said. “Five others were dropped off by private vehicles.”

Reese said three non-critical victims were juveniles and were transported to a nearby children's hospital.

She noted that at least one of the injured was suspected of being involved in the shooting.
