Bad Monkey: Vince Vaughn should return for 2 more seasons

Creator Bill Lawrence has a three-season plan for the crime series.

Vince Vaughn has not finished investigating. While season 1 of Bad Monkey has just ended, the creator of the Apple TV+ series, Bill Lawrenceconfirms that a season 2 is in the pipeline. And even a season 3. The series, based on the novel by Carl Hiasenaround detective Andrew Yancy, has a future.

Bill Lawrence explained in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he presented the arc Bad Monkey over three seasons, with the character of Vince VaughnAndrew Yancy, center. Lawrence and Vaughn have a three-season character development plan that includes both redemption and recurring setbacks for Yancy“with a three-season beginning, middle and end for this character.”

For him, everything actually comes down to tone, a sort of “twisted comedy, surrounded by surreal satire” and the same atmosphere should continue to animate the next seasons.

It remains to be seen when all this will actually happen. Bill Lawrence suggests season 2 could be adapted from the novel Razor Girl, the literary sequel to Bad Monkey by Carl Hiaasen. “He wanted to write a second book showing Yancy on a journey to becoming a guy who no longer gets in the way of his own happiness.”
