The filmmaker reassures: he fully intends to make his films dedicated to Sinatra and Jesus.
Before the end of the year, he was to film a biopic on Sinatra and another on the life of Jesus. But both films were suddenly postponed, raising some questions in the process: Martin Scorsese Does he have health problems? Does the 81-year-old director need a rest?
Present in Turin, at the Cinema Museum, where he received a lifetime achievement award yesterday, the American filmmaker reassured his fans and confided:
“I have no plans to retire. The Frank Sinatra film is only being postponed while I work on the Jesus film. I hope God will give me the strength and money to finish them.”
Let it be said, Martin Scorsese intends to complete his projects. And proof of his good form, he is currently filming a documentary, recounting the wrecks of ancient ships in Italy, the filming of which began last week.
“I'm filming between Ustica and Taormina (off the coast of Sicily). It's a documentary on marine archaeology.” This documentary is based on the “Shipwreck of Sicily” research project, led by British underwater archaeologist Lisa Briggs, which uses DNA analysis on objects recovered from ancient shipwreck sites to piece together the stories of these ships, their sailors and their cargoes.
