In an interview with US GQ, he was approached by Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige during the MCU's early days, saying, “I would like to offer you a role in nine movies.'' Jackson was shocked, saying, “How long do I have to stay alive to do nine movies?''

In Hollywood movies, it is common for it to take several years to produce a single movie. He must have had a hunch that if he was to appear in nine movies, he would be tied up for the next few decades.

In fact, most of Nick Fury's appearances have been cameos, including 2008's Iron Man, 2010's Iron Man 2, 2011's Thor and Captain America: The First. However, Jackson seems to be enjoying playing the role of Fury. He is tired of being influenced by the results of awards races such as the Academy Awards, and once said, “It would be more fun to be Nick Fury or Mace Windu and have a lightsaber.''
