Angelina Jolie ended her legal battle against the Justice Department on Thursday after filing a request for more information about the agency's investigation into alleged assaults between Jolie and ex-husband Brad Pitt during a transatlantic flight in 2016.

Jolie, 49, filed a motion to dismiss the suit with prejudice on September 25, with “each party to bear its own fees and costs,” according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital. A judge signed the order the next day.

The “Maria” actress filed a complaint against the FBI in April 2022, nearly six years after the bureau launched an investigation into an alleged 2016 altercation involving Pitt, now 60, Jolie and their children. on a private plane traveling from France to Los Angeles.

The investigation concluded two months later with no charges filed against Pitt, and she filed for divorce a few days later.

Jolie filed the lawsuit under the name “Jane Doe” and, citing the Freedom of Information Act, requested information relating to the investigation, in an effort to “protect children in the legal system of the family.”

She claimed that “the information withheld by the DOJ and the FBI contains evidence of harm” and that the refusal to produce this information “continues to hinder her efforts to obtain necessary continuing care and medical attention for her children, and has further harmed children in the family law system,” according to documents.

During a fight in 2016, Pitt allegedly “choked one of the children and punched another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.” He then poured “beer and red wine” on her and their six children.

“Some children begged Pitt to stop,” according to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. “They were all scared. Many were crying.”

Despite filing for divorce in 2016 and a judge declaring the former couple legally single in 2019, the “Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood” actor and Jolie have failed to resolve some lingering legal issues.

Pitt was awarded 50/50 custody of the couple's children in 2021, but Jolie contested the decision. It is not yet clear what their position is regarding child custody. The twins, Vivienne and Knox, are the only children under 18.

The former couple acquired a majority stake in Chateau Miraval in 2008 and spent time at home throughout their relationship. Jolie attempted to sell her company, Nouvel, to Tenute Del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, in 2021, thereby transferring her 50% stake in Miraval. Pitt opposed the sale, saying the move violated a contract between the two.
