Join Telegram ChannelFormer President Trump was caught up in the excitement over the long-standing rivalry between the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia, participating in a wide-ranging interview about college football and the intersection of politics.
In an exclusive OutKick interview with Clay Travis, Trump highlighted the “energy” of the Alabama vs. Georgia game Saturday night.
“It’s truly a great moment in football, and it’s great to see,” Trump said.
The audience inside the stadium cheered as Trump was shown on the giant television screens, on a video board, watching the game with Senators Katie Britt, Tommy Tuberville and Steve Daines of Montana.

Asked about his appeal to younger voters, Trump said his campaign was “booming.”
“We are among the young people. It's an honor. They are very intelligent. And she [Kamala Harris] berated them saying they're not smart and, I'll be honest, they're a lot smarter than her,” he said.
“There's never been an energy like today. And I guess it's me, but it's also when they look at our country and what's happened. Our country is in bad shape, and it's is in a very dangerous place right now. But we love our country, and we're going to make it great again.

The changes to the NFL's kickoff caught Trump's attention, with the Republican nominee praising college football for following previous rules.
“College football on a big scale is as big as the NFL,” he said. “I don't know what they're doing with the kickoff return in the NFL. And I don't want to get involved in any controversy, of course, but it looks so bad.
“And I noticed that they didn’t do that in college and they shouldn’t do that,” he said. “And I think the NFL should go back to that. And maybe it's a little more dangerous, but I doubt it's more dangerous. That's football.”
“I think they made a terrible mistake in doing that,” he said.

Trump turned his attention to Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, who attended Saturday's game between Minnesota and Michigan in Ann Arbor.
“He was booed as he left the stadium,” he said. “And you saw the hand we got – it was a little different.”

“We'll have to see what happens on November 5. I think it's the most important day in the history of our country,” Trump said. “This is going to be the greatest election we've ever had because our country is in trouble. I used to say they were destroying, no, they destroyed our country, and we're going to bring it back.”

Trump turned his attention to seven-time NFL Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who made his debut in the FOX Sports broadcast booth.

“I think he did very well. And I think he will do very well. He's a winner, he's a champion,” Trump said when asked about his performance . “And there are a lot of people who are jealous of him, so they will always say that no matter how well he performs, they will stay as negative as possible.”
“I think he’s doing incredibly well,” he said.
