The film in theaters: Emmanuelle by Audrey Diwan

Audrey Diwan takes on the character created by Emmanuelle Arsan, who became cult with the success of Just Jaeckin's film in the 70's. A hell of a challenge that the filmmaker takes on by choosing to tell the story of a woman in search of sexual pleasure which eludes her. Hand in hand with her interpreter Noémie Merlant – once again impressive – she goes beyond her biases and always remains as close as possible to this woman reclaiming her body. A gesture that combines audacity and panache.

What's new at the cinema this week

The series: Miskina season 2

The series created and played by Melha Bedia is back on Prime Video for a new burst of six even funnier and touching episodes. Miskina sketches with great humor and intelligence the tribulations of a young woman of North African origin, her ass between two chairs and her heart between two guys (including the always righteous Xavier Lacaille, also co-author). Finely written and carefully produced, this drama brings a real breath of fresh air to the PAF, and we want more!

The exit: Interstellar by Christopher Nolan

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of the director's biggest hitsOppenheimerWarner Bros. pulled out all the stops, favoring 70mm and screens equipped with IMAX. The eco-kubric-family sci-fi film with Matthew McConaughey returns to more than 200 theaters in France. At the time, part of the Première editorial staff remained unmoved by this great melodrama staged in spectacular fashion. This weekend, will we finally cry in front of Interstellar ?

The movie on TV: Virgin Suicides by Sofia Coppola

It was with this adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides' novel that Sofia Coppola made her feature film debut in 2000, majestically setting the tone for what has never ceased to inspire her since: the unfathomable mysteries of adolescence. And his way of imbuing with gentleness the tragedy that unfolded there – the collective suicide of five sisters from an ultra-strict family in a rich suburb of Detroit – would lastingly impose his style, often copied but never equaled since.

The film in streaming: The Truth by Hirokazu Kore-eda

We learned this week that Catherine Deneuve would chair the 50th César ceremony. That's good, the French actress with such an eclectic career is in replay until the beginning of October in a “Korean” film as desired: The Truth (2019), in which she plays, aptly, of course, a movie star. Also with Juliette Binoche, Ludivine Sagnier and Ethan Hawke, all equally happy to play between reality and fiction for the director ofA family affair.

The classic: Josey Wales outlaw by Clint Eastwood

It may not be the most famous of Clint Eastwood's films, but it's one of the best. His fifth as director, the one where he asserts his style and his vision – literally, since he fired Philip Kaufman after a few days of filming to sit in his place in the director's chair. We are in 1976, between two episodes of Inspector HarryAnd Josey Wales follows the vengeful crusade of a Missouri farmer whose family was massacred by northern raiders during the Civil War. But the western full of cold anger will soon turn into a kaleidoscopic fresco, when the outlaw Josey Wales rallies to him others left behind from the nascent American nation… Between violence ” ruthless » and flâneur humanism, a masterpiece that captures the essence of Clint – cowboy, actor, filmmaker and all-around star.

A street in the suburbs of Tel Aviv. A sidewalk, silhouettes, lights breaking through the hot night. Behind the camera, Yolande Zauberman makes her way through this dark darkness. She is looking for the Belle of Gaza, a trans woman who left from the Strip of the same name to join these bits of asphalt. But Beauty slips away, remains nowhere to be found.
