International Brotherhood of Teamsters won’t endorse Donald Trump or Kamala Harris for president

Teamsters Joint Council No. 40 says it has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president.The local vote comes as their parent union, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, declined to endorse Harris or Republican nominee Donald Trump, saying neither presidential candidate has sufficient support from the 1.3 million-member union.The Teamsters said Wednesday that internal polling of members showed Trump with an advantage over Harris, a fact that the Republican’s campaign immediately seized upon by sending out an email that said the “rank-and-file of the Teamsters Union supports Donald Trump for President.”According to its website, Teamsters Joint Council No. 40 has nearly 35,000 members from 14 local affiliates in western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh, Carnegie, White Oak, Jeannette, Erie, New Castle, Washington, Uniontown and Ebensburg.
