Join Telegram ChannelJD Vance called Taylor Swift “fundamentally out of touch with the problems of most Americans” after the pop superstar endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
“We admire Taylor Swift's music, but I don't think most Americans, whether they like her music, whether they're fans of her or not, are going to be swayed by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally out of touch with the interests and issues of most Americans,” Vance said Wednesday on “The Story.”

“When food prices go up 20 percent, it hurts most Americans, but it doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift or any other billionaire,” Vance continued. “It hurts middle-class Americans all across the country.”
Swift supported Harris minutes after she and former President Trump concluded their first presidential debate Tuesday night.
“The Story” host Martha MacCallum noted that Swift took a dig at Vance in her announcement, signing off as “Taylor Swift, the childless cat lady.” The refrain, which has gone viral in recent weeks, was a reference to a comment Vance made in 2021 when he said the United States was effectively run “by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy in their own lives and the choices they've made, and therefore want to make the rest of the country unhappy too.” He has since defended the remark as a “joke” that was “intentionally misinterpreted” by Democrats.

Swift, who posted a photo of herself holding her cat above her Instagram endorsement, said she would vote for Harris because she “fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to champion.”
Vance said he believes the Trump campaign has a more compelling and relevant message for women voters, emphasizing the GOP's commitment to restoring public safety nationwide.

“I think our pitch to women voters is very simple. Donald Trump has implemented policies that have lowered food prices, lowered housing prices, and most importantly, Donald Trump has made our country safer.”
He continued: “I have three young children, I want my children to grow up in a country where the neighborhoods are safe enough, the streets are safe enough that they don't make mistakes and get killed. 20 years ago, [if] You smoke a joint that your parents yelled at you for. Today, you smoke a joint that contains fentanyl and could cost a teenager his life.

“I don't want that for my family, I don't think most women want that for their neighborhoods and their families, and our argument is to elect Donald Trump. We're going to bring back the public safety that has been so lacking in this country over the last few years.”
Earlier Wednesday, Trump appeared unbothered by Swift's support for Harris, remarking in an interview with “Fox & Friends” that he expected her to back the Democratic nominee.
“It was just a matter of time. She couldn't […] “He may support Biden. If you look at Biden, you can't support him,” Trump said, adding that he was “not a Taylor Swift fan.”
