Filming will begin soon in California.
After participating in the biopic Ferrari by Michael Mann, Shailene Woodley continues in the genre. This time she will be the star of a biopic dedicated to Janis Joplin. She will play the singer who is notoriously part of the infamous “Club of 27”, these singers who died at 27, alongside Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain…
This is the first time that Hollywood has managed to make a film about the 60s icon, who was revealed at the Monterey Festival and also performed at Woodstock in 1969. Many attempts have been made over the years to capture the life of the rock star, but none have been successful until now. Shailene Woodley will also produce the film, which will be shot over 30 days in California on a small budget of around ten million dollars.
“California meant a great deal to Janis Joplin – from the stoops of San Francisco to the wooden walls of Sunset Sound, the state became the stage on which she explored not only the world of music, but also the world of her vibrant humanity.” assure Shailene Woodley in a press release.
