A Perfect Couple: The Murderer Tells

Those who have seen all six episodes ofA Perfect Coupleon Netflix, now know the truth. So who is guilty?

So the killer was a woman. Pregnant. Abby killed Merritt (Meghann Fahy), Amelia's maid of honor (Eve Hewson) for money. So that her husband can get the family inheritance without waiting 18 more years… But in Elin Hilderbrand's book, from which the series is adapted, Abby is not the killer. It's… nobody! Abby only put a pill in her husband's mistress's drink, to stop her from fooling around with him. Except that the drink ended up in Merritt's hand, who drank it and ended up sinking into the ocean…

A drastic end change that welcomed Dakota Fanning happily. In an interview with Variety, she says she learned she was the killer before she even read a single script. The director Susanne Bier called Fanning directly to offer her the role of the villain, something the actress doesn't often get to play: “In Twilight, of course, I play Jane the vampire who is not really nice… But she is a vampire, not a person. It was the first time I played the villain, and I loved it! I was so excited to be the crazy one on duty…”

She then says that the murder scene, shown in the final moments of the finale, was filmed “On the little beach outside the house, at night. It was so cold we couldn't do it for long. Then there was a day in a big pool to film the drowning. Meghann had a much harder task because she had to keep her eyes open and scream underwater. I was really there to support her, and pretend I was drowning her, but not really grabbing her too hard. I didn't want to hold her under water for too long!”

Unmasked, Abby is finally arrested by the police. Shouting her rage, she gives Amelia a dark look before being taken away:

“I think it was like saying, 'If you and your friend hadn't been there, then this wouldn't be happening to me!' I don't think she feels any remorse. I think she's wondering how to fix this… She's still in her delusion. Like the real psychopath she is.”

But for Dakota Fanningno hope for Abby: she's going to prison!”Yeah, but she'll definitely be the boss of the place! She's just crazy enough to find a way out of it.”
