Harry Potter series launches casting and it promises to be “inclusive”

Who will play Hermione? Who will be Ron? And who will play Harry? The search is on.

The quest for the new Harry, Ron and Hermione has begun. The production of the series Harry Potter has just launched the casting and is looking for the three stars who will play the three young wizards of Hogwarts in the new television version.

HBO launched a casting call on Monday, which is looking for children who will be between the ages of 9 and 11 in April 2025 and who are residents of the United Kingdom and Ireland. The notice also states that the casting will be inclusive, opening the call to all:

“We are committed to inclusive and diverse casting. For each role, please submit qualified performers, regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other legally protected criteria, unless specifically noted otherwise.”

Got a candidate in mind? To apply, submit two short homemade tapes, one of which is a short poem or story. But no text taken from Harry Potter !

“Please prepare a short poem or story of your choice. It can be from your favorite book, a poem you like, a monologue from a play, or something you have created yourself. Please, nothing Harry Potter. Please use your own accent. 30 seconds maximum!” indicates the casting call. The second video must be “a short video telling us a little about yourself, including your date of birth, height, and where you live. Also, please describe any family members, friends, or pets you are particularly close to. Please use your own accent. One minute maximum.

The application deadline is October 31.

We also learned that the series will be filmed in the United Kingdom in 2025-2026. There is no release date announced yet, but the boss of HBO said he was aiming for a release on the Max platform for 2026.
