The German director of All Quiet on the Western Front is reportedly being courted to take over the saga from Steven Soderbergh.

In 2001, Steven Soderbergh offered himself a luxurious remake of the Ocean's 11 by Lewis Milestone, bringing together on screen George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Casey Affleck, Andy Garcia and others. Two sequels and a spin-off were then released. But since then Ocean's 8 (2018) and its (too) little success at the box office (less than $300 million) the franchise is on standby.

It could be reborn with a new sequel. A Ocean's 14which has been whispered for some time in Hollywood, and which could benefit from the momentum Brad Pitt / George Clooney to come to fruition. The duo is in fact in the spotlight thanks to Wolfs (which comes out this month) and according to Deadline, the producers are seriously considering planning a new heist, without Soderbergh but with the German director Edward Berger to direct the film.

Warner Bros.

Deadline reports that Berger – who made his mark in Hollywood by signing All Quiet on the Western Frontreleased in 2022 on Netflix, nominated for the Oscar for best picture – has not yet received an offer. Matt Damon And Casey Affleck (also gathered in The Instigators these days) might also want to come back.

Besides, George Clooney had already suggested last year thatOcean's 14 already had in his pocket”a very good script. It's even an excellent script“.

The fact remains that the as yet untitled prequel film, directed by Jay Roach and starring Margot Robbie And Ryan Gosling (who will play Danny Ocean's parents), will certainly be decisive for the continuation of the saga Ocean's. If successful, the desire to do Ocean's 14 will be all the greater.
