A first teaser for Maldoror, the next film by Fabrice du Welz

The Belgian film, starring Alexis Manenti and Anthony Bajon, was presented at the Venice Film Festival.

From the first seconds, the characteristic grain jumps out at us. We are in the 90s. Presented out of competition at the Venice Film Festivalthe new film by Fabrice de Welz (Adoration, Inexorable…), Maldororreveals its first images in an enigmatic teaser.

A Franco-Belgian detective film, it tells the story of the disappearance of two little girls in a small village across the Quiévrain, in 1995. Anthony Bajona young police officer, is given the difficult task of participating in a secret operation, Maldoror, whose aim is to monitor the main suspect. With his colleague played by Alexis Manentihe will have to face an unprecedented media frenzy. Idealistic, he will take his role extremely seriously and rush headlong into it.

In the teaser, we see Anthony Bajon and Alba Gaia Bellugi laughing in a smoky bar, when suddenly the landlady calls for calm so she can watch television. It is then that everyone in the room learns the terrible news of the disappearance of the two little girls. Faced with the discontent of the local residents, quick to criticize the police and want a “bullet in the head” for the murderer, Bajon, he tempers. We understand in this extract the tension that will tear him apart between the people's court and the rectitude he shows in his profession.
