It keeps its doors open. Only launched last week, City of God: The Struggle Continuese has been renewed by HBO for a second season.
The series, which debuted on Monday, August 26 on Max in France, is the sequel to Fernando Meirelles' award-winning film, The City of God (2002), which brings the characters back 20 years later, “through the eyes of Wilson (Rocket), who returns to the community when a young drug dealer is released from prison, once again putting the City of God in trouble. The residents find themselves trapped between drug dealers, militias and government authorities. However, their desire to break this cycle drives the community to unite and confront their oppressors.”
The story will continue. #CityOfGod will return for Season 2 on Max.

No details about season 2 have been released yet. City of God: The Struggle Continues will end its first season on Monday, September 30 on Max in France.
