In the absence of a worthy competitor, the latest Marvel continues to dominate the rankings.
No big news this week in American theaters. So without any real competition, the Marvel heroes have had a blast again and are still leading the box office, with an additional $15 million in their 6th week. Attendance is holding up (-17% compared to last week) which allows the latest MCU film to pass the $600 million revenue threshold in North America. It could even go and tickle Inside Out 2the biggest 2024 US box office hit so far, which tops out at $650 million. Deadpool & Wolverine should not surpass the animated film, however, at the global box office, since Ryan Reynolds And Hugh Jackman are at $1.25 billion in revenue, compared to $1.7 billion for Pixar.
The other good news for Disney is that Alien: Romulus continues to do very well. The latest installment of the saga will pass 90 million dollars at the US box office and especially 300 million dollars worldwide by tomorrow. An impressive milestone for a horror film that cost “only” 80 million to produce.
The only new release this weekend is the biopic Reagan about the 40th president of the United States – played by Denis Quaid – is off to a small start at $8 million in a limited audience. An honorable score while Evil AIa horror film by Chris Weitz, only made $3 million at the US box office for its opening weekend.
