Sigourney Weaver Officially Joins the Star Wars Universe

His conquest of space continues with The Mandalorian & Grogu.

She knows space. She mastered its dangers with the Alien saga, discovered its existence in the comedy Galaxy Questand studied one of its mysterious planets in Avatar. But there remains a galaxy, very very far away that Sigourney Weaver has not yet explored. It won't be long.

Interviewed by Deadlineon the occasion of the Venice Film Festival, where she will receive the Golden Lion for her entire career, the actress who conquered science fiction, returned for a moment to the great moments of her filmography such as Alien, Ghostbusters And Working Girlthen made some announcements about his upcoming projects. Among them, The Mandalorian & Grogu :

“I met Grogu for the first time the other day. I'm filming this before I go to London where The Tempest (editor's note: a play by Shakespeare) is played at the end of the year.”

The news makes official the rumors launched in May, when the Hollywood reporter, Jeff Sneider, had affirmed that for his big screen adaptation of the series The Mandalorian with Pedro PascalJon Favreau wanted to get his hands on Sigourney Weaver.

For now, his role is being kept top secret. The Mandalorian & Grogu is the first Star Wars production on the big screen since Episode 9, The Rise of the Skywalkers, released in 2019. The first images were revealed during D23, organized a few weeks ago.

Following the adventures of Din Djarin and his adorable little creature, the film is scheduled for May 20, 2026 in France.
