James Gunn gives the first look at Skyler Gisondo as the Daily Planet photographer.
Clark Kent's best friend strikes a pose. James Gunn has just shared the first official look at Jimmy Olsen, in its film Supermanscheduled for 2025.
A snapshot to celebrate the 83rd anniversary of the DC Comics character: “Happy Birthday to Superman's friend Jimmy Olsen, who debuted on this day in 1941. Created by Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, and Bob Maxwell. Can't wait for you to see him as Skyler Gisondo…” he wrote.
Happy Anniversary to Superman's pal, Jimmy Olsen, who debuted on this day in 1941 (although he did appear earlier as “office boy” in Action Comics 6). Created by Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster & Bob Maxwell. I can't wait for you to see @SkylerGisondo's portrayal in #Superman on July… pic.twitter.com/PG7DdF7QSL

We had already seen some stolen photos of the character, on the set, in recent months.
Skyler Gisondo is known for his part in the excellent Licorice Pizza by Paul Thomas Anderson (in 2021) and in various HBO series, such as The Righteous Gemstones And Curb Your Enthusiasmafter being revealed in the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet.
He succeeds in the role to Michael Cassidy who played the character – in a secret agent version – during the previous DC Univerese and in the only Batman v Superman (2016). Jimmy Olsen is best known as Justin Whalinin the TV series Lois and Clark (1994-1996).
Superman will be released on July 9, 2025 in France and will not be an origin story, but will tell “the fragile balance that Clark Kent, aka Superman, must find between his Kryptonian origin and his life as a human.” David Corenswet will play the title role opposite Rachel Brosnahan in Lois Lane.
