The 2011 memoir tells the story of Uslan's origins, from his junior year at Indiana University Bloomington, when he taught comic books and began working at DC during the summers. The comic book nerd went on to law school and then took a job at film distributor United Arts after graduating. Uslan has been credited on every Batman movie since Tim Burton's 1989 film.

Fogler, who plays the lead role of Uslan, is also known for his role as Luke in the popular TV series “The Walking Dead,” and is an actor who excels at playing comical and warm characters. Fogler has also appeared on Broadway, and has a track record of winning a Tony Award for his role as William Burfee in the stage production “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” With his solid acting skills, Fogler's lead role will add depth to the stage version and is sure to captivate audiences.

Uslan praised Fogler's incredible acting talent, comedic timing and impressive stage presence: “Michael Uslan is the perfect actor to play this obviously challenging and complex role. From the first moment he was handed the script, Dan knew he had perfected his approach to the material and I couldn't be happier that he agreed to join us on this journey.”

“Batman and comic books are my favorite subjects. I was 12 years old in 1989, and seeing Batman on screen and witnessing the light lurking in his darkness was a life-changing experience. It was mind-blowing, and I can't wait to tell the story of how this film came to be,” said Fogler.

Details such as whether the stage version will be a musical are still unknown, but we can expect some fascinating content, including behind-the-scenes tales of how Batman established himself as a superhero in Hollywood.

The stage version of The Boy Who Loved Batman will run from October 1 to November 10, 2024 at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida, with hopes of eventually making it to Broadway.
