20 years after seeing his father fight in the heart of the Coliseum, he will in turn descend into the arena. The one who wrote Gladiator II For Ridley Scott tells how Lucius was imagined, both the equal and the opposite of Maximus: “The idea was to completely reverse the first film“, Scarpa explains.

“The first film begins with Maximus, a Roman general fighting a barbarian army. So we begin Gladiator II by showing this young man who has joined a barbarian army and who is fighting the Romans. He feels the same anger and disgust towards Rome as Maximus at the end of the film. So we are staging echoes of the same man, but who is also more or less his opposite…”

Gladiator II will be released in theaters on November 13.
