The silent film masterpiece will be on view from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

It will finally get the honors it deserves! Almost 100 years after it was made, the great Napoleon ofAbel Gance will be broadcast on France 5, in prime time, and in its entirety. On Sunday, September 8 at 9 p.m., the public channel will offer the restored version of the 1927 feature film, which traces the life of Napoleon from his childhood in Italy to his end. An epic split into two parts of 231 minutes and 207 minutes, or a film of 7 hours and 18 minutes, to be devoured until the end of the night.

It should be noted that the exceptional result required 16 years of work within the Cinémathèque française and under the direction of Georges Mourier. The first 4 hours were shown at the Cannes Film Festival in the spring.

For those who don't have the patience to sit in front of a silent black and white film for 7 hours, the Napoleon ofAbel Gance will also be available for free on france.tv for 30 days.

The film was re-released in theaters this summer.
