The Piano Lesson will be Malcolm Washington's directorial debut, produced by his father Denzel Washington, and starring his brother John David Washington.

No, it has nothing to do with the New Zealand film by Jane Campion, Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1993 (and which was called The Piano in original version). The Piano Lesson will be released on November 22 on Netflix and we discover the trailer (below) for this drama based on the play of the same name by August Wilson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1987.

Samuel L. Jackson And John David Washington will tell this story about the inheritance of a piano, which tears apart a family, a brother and a sister, one wanting to sell it, and the other, to keep it.

The synopsis speaks of a “A battle rages in the Charles family. At the center is a precious family piano that tears two siblings apart. On one side, a brother plans to build the family fortune by selling it. On the other, a sister will do anything to preserve the only vestige of the family heritage. Their uncle tries to mediate, but even he can't hold back the ghosts of the past..”

The film is directed and co-written by Malcolm Washingtonwho is making his first steps as a director and produced by his father, Denzel WashingtonThe cast also includes Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu with Danielle Deadwyler and Corey Hawkins.
