Nearly 7 million for Monte-Cristo, 3 million for Marvel, 4 million for Gru, 10 million for Artus and 8 million for Pixar: the summer continues to be a success in French cinemas.

The big news of the week, Alien: Romulushas had an honourable start at the French box office. The seventh installment of the franchise has totalled more than 470,000 admissions during its first week in French cinemas. A score which is still the weakest start of the saga on the French market. For comparison, Alien: Covenant had sold 675,785 tickets (in more theaters) in 2017.

As powerful as they are, the Xenomorphs face fierce competition in theaters this late summer and only take second place at the weekly box office. The Count of Monte Cristo is still roaring and has just taken the lead again, with attendance rising again for its 8th week! Pierre Niney attracts almost 600,000 more curious people and the epic is close to 7 million cumulative admissions, pushing back Deadpool & Wolverine at a good distance.

Marvel

The latest Marvel confirms that it will be a great success here, but not a record-breaking one, as is the case internationally. The superhero film tickles 3 million spectators after 4 weeks and falls to 3rd place in a top where always shine Despicable Me 4 (almost 4 million), Inside Out 2 (more than 8 million) or A little something extra (more than 10 million). Trapby Shyamalan, also confirms its good start and has already totaled nearly 600,000 admissions in our country.
