The director of Guardians of the Galaxy shares his rules to follow to avoid this. He lists six rules that must be followed absolutely to start shooting a film as calmly as possible.

James Gunn recently completed filming his adaptation of Supermanwith David Corwenset in the title role, and according to his discussions on Threads with comic book fans, he shouldn't have to film any additional scenes anytime soon…

When asked by an Internet user if he was almost finished with his blockbuster tasked with launching the new DC Universe, he first replied:

“Oulah, no. Once you've finished shooting, it's just the beginning! There's still a lot of editing work, special effects, and sound to do before we can say it's finished.”

Hence a one-year gap between the shooting and the theatrical release, Superman being set for July 11, 2025 in theaters.

James Gunn – Superman: “Thank you all, with all my heart”

As the discussion continues, another person asks if he will need reshoots soon. “I don't know”he replies before explaining that he generally does very little, even on his big films such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Or Suicide Squadhis latest productions for the big screen: “In total, I've only had one day of reshoots for my last two films combined, you know.”

Which begs the question: how does he avoid having to reshoot extra scenes? James Gunn then gives six tips that he tries to follow on all his projects, blockbusters or not, and that he has therefore applied for Superman.

“1) You have to over-prepare.

2) Don't start filming until you have a script that the whole team likes.

3) Hire actors and crew leaders knowing that they know their job and will do it well.

4) Surround myself with people who will challenge me, not just respond. 'Yes, sir!' at every turn

5) Ask myself daily if there are small imperfections in the script or in what we are shooting that could turn into big imperfections when we do the final edit.

6) Respect #1 and #2.
