Even before the film's release on July 24, a list of names was circulating on social networks, with fans speculating about the potential return of some of Fox's leading figures – and, more specifically, the X-Men – but also about the involvement of pop culture icons. Speculations were sometimes so specific that they led to fears of a leak.

Yet it seems that this was all part of a tactic devised by the Marvel brass to distract the Sherlock Holmeses of the web and send them on the wrong track. Wendy Jacobsonproducer of this third part directed by Shawn Levy and co-written by Ryan Reynoldsadmitted in the columns of GamesRadar that there is “may or may not have been subterfuges and false leads announced on the internet or in person to protect the secret”.

“I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of cameos in this film.she continuesbut I can say that in terms of the characters that might or might not appear, it was always important to us that nothing in this film felt like a gimmick. Everyone who appears has a crucial role in the story or a beginning, middle and end as a character arc. It was really a collaborative process to see who fit in and who didn't.

The most curious (and there are many) will have already discovered the secrets that this new film contains. Dead Poolresponsible for sealing the union between the Fox and Marvel universes. Ryan Reynolds said a few days ago “impressed that we managed to release the film without some of our biggest surprises being speculated about online. Keeping it a secret has been so hard.”

Mission accomplished, then, and with flying colors. Which didn't stop the film's crew from laughing at some of the wildest fan theories that came out before its theatrical release. When asked to name a few at a conference in London, Ryan Reynolds replied:

“I heard that King Charles was going to be in the movie. At one point Shawn and I wondered if we could make that happen.”
